A recent patent application has hinted that Uber is interested in using social media data to connect users with UberPool riders with similar interests.

Is this perhaps taking social media a step too far though?  If you're having to share an Uber taxi journey, are people really all that bothered about who they share with?

Let's be honest, it's completely the luck of the draw whether your Uber driver can actually navigate the way home - well, in London anyway!

Perhaps this is an example where over-familiarity really could breed contempt with passengers who just want to get from A to B?
